Amazed

Last week a good friend and I travelled together (with her 16-month-old and my 13-month-old) to a homeschool conference in Thailand.  The trip itself was grueling, with canceled and delayed flights, and 2.5 unexpected overnights en-route.  When we arrived, we had four days in a beautiful hotel with lots of other parents and kids, getting to learn and ask questions about schooling every day, eating Thai food, taking walks, and swimming.  We only paid for "extras."  Thirty volunteers came over from the US to teach classes for the kids and us, and they brought diaper wipes, lysol, hand sanitizer, toys, nametags, cribs...all the trappings of a nice nursery.  On top of that, they made room to bring treats, school supplies, zip-loc bags, and a box of Cheese-Its (you'd be surprised what you miss sometimes!) for every one of the families represented.  Amazing!  And when we came home, we found that winter had suddenly departed during our absence.  So in case you're remembering my posts about some of the things we miss, I wanted to share that there are some pretty awesome and unexpected things that happen to me over here, too.  :)  -B

My only picture from the trip - don't we look relaxed?
(You'll notice we're not in the airport!)
