Discovery

Do you remember as a kid the feeling that absolutely any surprise could be around any corner at any moment?  Well, that feeling is one of the reasons we love Kathmandu.  Last night we took a walk through the winding (very urban) back alleys of the neighborhood where we are staying.  And suddenly a narrow path between brick compound walls opened up to this:  a cornfield and sheep pasture, surrounded by houses and apartment compounds in the middle of the city.  While there is much to be said for zoning, there is a lot to be said for this, too - especially if you are 5 or under!
